Embark on a thrilling ocean dive in the North Atlantic and explore the unique blend of salty and fresh waters in Bjarnagjá with our exclusive private diving combo. This adventure is perfect for those looking to experience the underwater world in a whole new way. Both diving locations are situated on the scenic Reykjanes peninsula, merely an hour’s drive from the bustling heart of downtown Reykjavik.

The itinerary of your tour will be shaped by the tide and weather conditions of the day, with our seasoned guides making the final call on which dive site to tackle first as your dive date approaches. Dive into the mysteries of the Bjarnagjá fissure, an 18m deep lava ravine born from the captivating clash of the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates. This rift, just a stone’s throw from the coast, is primarily filled with fresh groundwater, though tinged with the sea's salinity. For the adept divers, it offers a mesmerizing overhead environment dive, complete with a sunken boat at the fissure’s bottom that adds to the dive’s allure.

Your ocean dive day tour introduces you to the North Atlantic's undersea locals off Iceland's chilled coasts. Discover Garður, our preferred local ocean dive site known for its rich kelp forests that provide a vibrant habitat for a diverse marine life including lumpsuckers, nudibranchs, and an array of invertebrates. The sandy ocean floor, adorned with soft orange coral and the watchful eyes of flounders, together with the kelp forests where a wolf fish might greet you, create an undersea landscape like no other. However, be mindful that weather conditions directly impact the feasibility of ocean dives, and should inclement weather arise, we have alternative dive sites like Kleifarvatn, Davíðsgjá, or Silfra that offer equally enchanting experiences with less dependency on weather.

Our private tours ensure a fully personalized diving adventure, including a private guide, round-trip transport, diving excursions, and all necessary high-quality diving gear from renowned brands. Expect two dives, lasting 30-40 minutes each with a maximum depth of 18 meters, and the comforting treat of hot cocoa and cookies afterwards. From the moment your private guide picks you up in Reykjavik to the enriching drive to the dive site filled with insights into Iceland's geology and cultural history, your experience is guaranteed to be memorable. And for those wishing to unwind in the Blue Lagoon post-tour, just let your guide know, and they’ll happily arrange a drop-off (do note, return transport to Reykjavik needs to be booked separately).

Important Notes

Join us on an Ocean dive in the North Atlantic and a fissure dive in salty and fresh water in Bjarnagja for a unique diving experience. Both dive sites are located in the Reykjanes peninsula, approximately an hour's drive from downtown Reykjavik. The structure of your tour will depend on the tides and weather conditions of the day, with our experienced guides deciding the first dive spot shortly before your dive date. The Bjarnagjá fissure, an 18 m deep lava ravine, showcases the tectonic activity that has shaped Iceland. Its mostly fresh groundwater is influenced by the sea's salinity, creating a unique environment for those with the appropriate level of training and diving experience. A notable feature is a boat placed at the bottom of the fissure, adding an element of eeriness. The Ocean Diver Day Tour at Garður, a shore dive, offers an opportunity to explore a kelp forest and its marine inhabitants like lumpsuckers, nudibranchs, and a variety of invertebrates. You may encounter flounders hiding in sandy patches or a wolf fish emerging from a rock pile. However, weather conditions can affect ocean dives, and alternate dive sites like Kleifarvatn, Davíðsgjá, or Silfra might be offered instead. Our private tours include a guide, transport, the diving tour, and all necessary equipment. Dives will last 30-40 minutes each, reaching a maximum depth of 18 meters. The tour features pickup in Reykjavik, with your guide providing background information on Iceland's geology and culture, a detailed briefing of each site, and assistance with dive equipment setup. After diving, enjoy hot cocoa and cookies. If desired, arrange with your guide to visit the Blue Lagoon post-tour (separate transportation back to Reykjavik required).
