Very Easy

Embark on an enchanting journey from Isafjordur, navigating through mysterious underground tunnels and traversing mountains, all while being captivated by stunning fjord landscapes. The highlight of our tour is the awe-inspiring Dynjandi waterfall in Arnarfjorður fjord, where we'll pause for an hour-long exploration right up to its base – though the view from the parking lot is just as breathtaking for those preferring not to hike. Along the way back, we'll make a cozy stop at Hrafnseyri cafe for some delightful coffee and cakes, and pass by Audkula farm, home to a vibrant colony of Eider Ducks during breeding season. Keep your eyes peeled for the majestic King Eider and Humpback whales that often grace the fjord in summer. Weather permitting, our return journey will take us over the scenic Hrafnseyrarheiði or Álftamýrarheiði heath roads, promising summer-based vistas only accessible this time of the year, else we'll revisit the tunnels. Join us for this unforgettable adventure through Iceland's natural wonders.

Embark on an adventurous journey from Isafjordur, traversing through mystical underground tunnels, scaling mountains, and skirting the edges of scenic fjords. Your path leads to the awe-inspiring Dynjandi waterfall in Arnarfjordur fjord, where you'll have the opportunity to hike up to its base and marvel at its beauty up close. Don't worry if hiking isn't for you; the waterfall's grandeur is equally appreciable from the comfort of the parking area.

As we make our way back, a cozy stop at Hrafnseyri cafe offers the chance for a delightful coffee and cake break. Our route also takes us past the Audkula farm, home to a significant colony of Eider Ducks during their breeding season. Keep your eyes peeled for the regal King Eider among them. It's also a common delight to spot Humpback whales frolicking in the fjord during the summer.

Weather permitting, our return might include a drive across the breathtaking Hrafnseyrarheidi or Álftamúrarheidi heath roads, granting us exclusive summer views accessible only during this season. If the mountain roads are inaccessible, we'll navigate back through the tunnels, ensuring a safe and splendid conclusion to our journey.

Itinerary

Itinerary

This journey will take us from Isafjordur through two different underground tunnels, across mountains and along beautiful fjords. The thunderous waterfall Dynjandi awaits us in Arnarfjorður fjord. We will stop there for aprox one hour so you can hike up to the base of this majestic waterfall. The waterfall is clearly visible from the parking lot so you don’t need to hike if you don’t want to. On our way back we will stop at Hrafnseyri cafe where you can buy coffee and cakes if you are interested and then drive by the farm Audkula, where there is a large colony of Eider Ducks during the breeding season. Who knows, maybe we will see King Eider in the nesting area. It’s very common to see Humpback whales in the fjord during the summer months. If possible we will drive back across the mountains on either Hrafnseyrarheiði heath road or Álftamýrarheiði heath road that are only passable in the summer months.
